Kid-sized

Bring in smaller, kid-sized tables and chairs. Or, put down colorful carpet squares or a mat on the floor so that kids (and you!) can sit and play on the ground. Put a case with handles on larger mobile devices so they are easy to hold. Make sure any arts and crafts materials are kid-safe, like markers with washable—rather than permanent—ink.

Why this technique
Kids will be more likely to participate in the session if the environment feels more natural for them. And it creates a more even power dynamic if adults are physically on kids’ level.
