Use kids’ words

“First we are going to have you use this.”

(Kid’s response: “It was fun to play the game!”)

“What was fun about playing the game?”

(Kid’s response: “It was fun to answer the questions in the activity!”)

“What was fun answering the questions in the activity?”

Why this technique
The words that kids use to describe your product give you insight about their experience interacting with it and what they thought of it. Starting with neutral words and then using their words also helps to not bias them to think that they should interact with the product in a certain way.
