Likes and dislikes

“What kinds of toys do you really like? What do you not like?”

Pay attention to what kids say (i.e., the language they use) and how they say it (i.e., their tone of voice, body language, physical reactions).

Why this technique
Having kids talk about things they really like now and things they don’t like or used to like but don’t anymore provide baselines of two ends of their emotional spectrum. This gives more context for when they talk about or interact with your product.
