Similar but different

If a kid seems disengaged with the activity, have them play with another game or activity that is similar in its goals.

Why this technique
Having the kid play a similar type of game or activity will give you insight into whether there is something specific about your design the kid doesn’t like, or if they don’t like the type of activity overall.
