Search with specifics

Rather than, “What is this character like?” ask, “What does this character like to do for fun?” or “What does this character eat?”

Why this technique
If you ask a kid, “Why?” to something, they will likely say, “I don’t know.” But asking specific questions can get at higher level opinions and thoughts without being too broad and confusing.
