Tell a toy

Bring in a stuffed animal: “This is Ollie! He’s going to join you. Can you tell him how you play this game?”

Why this technique
It’s sometimes more comfortable for kids to talk to a stuffed animal instead of a new, potentially intimidating adult because there are no associated feelings of judgment with stuffies. When you’re asking about a product’s usability or what kids like about a design, a comforting stuffed animal can lead to more talking.
