Session preview

Share an overview of the session in kid-friendly terms, so that theykids know what to expect. For example:,

“First, you will use this app. After that, you will do a drawing activity. Then we will chat about the activity.”

Or: “Today we’re going to be having a playdate! During our playdate, we’ll play this new game together.”

For younger kids, a visual schedule that could be referenced as the session progresses could be helpful.

Why this technique
Letting kids know what to expect makes the experience less uncertain and scary for them. Rather than calling your session research or playtesting, which may confuse or concern kids, framing your session as a playdate helps kids have an idea of what’s to come and get comfy.
